Located on the Southside of San Antonio, Rudy's Seafood has been serving quality seafood at a great price for over 50 years.

A small porcelain statue of a sailor greets and welcomes guests as they walk through the door into Rudy’s Seafood. Rudy’s, a cozy hometown restaurant at 4122 S. Flores, opened more than 40 years ago. While the restaurant may lack the modern look of a fast food chain outlet, it instead offers the charm of a love for San Antonio, and Spurs posters and memorabilia filling the walls.A small, inviting dining area allows customers to sit upfront next to the counter or in the back to watch TV. The wooden bench-like tables feel like those you might find in your own home. The fish tastes fresh and crispy. Modest prices do not match the huge portions and superior quality.I sampled the small plate, a two-piece fish fillet for $7.59. Combos include the colossal super family 15-piece for $24.99. Family orders come with fish and fries, as do individual combos. All orders include fries, tartar sauce, lemon, bread and chile serrano.
Rudy’s also serves Alaskan pollock or tilapia. Fish preparation creates a flaky, crispy appearance and a tender, juicy taste inside. Expect the meat fried to perfection to avoid a dry, unsatisfying texture. It reminds you of eating a crispy chicken tender, but softer to chew. The tartar sauce enhances the fish flavor without overpowering it.A shrimp dinner costs $9.99 for a 6-piece jumbo. A shrimp boat offers 12 pieces of jumbo shrimp for $17.99.For those not fond of seafood, Rudy’s offers burgers, chicken strips and chicken fried steak.Rudy’s Seafood sits about five miles from Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s Brooks City-Base Campus and eight miles from Main Campus. The convenient location makes it easy and affordable to have a satisfying meal at an affordable price.
